It’s 7:22 AM on March 12th. I just deleted my already-written newsletter to write this for you because I woke up and realized what day it was.
Exactly one year ago today, we left for Ireland.
I remember it all so vividly. I know most people can go on a trip and stop talking about it a month or so after they get home, I just can’t. Saying “I left a piece of myself in Ireland” doesn’t do it justice.
I’m not Irish, but it feels like this trip embedded itself somewhere deep in my DNA. However, it feels fitting that my husband has family that likely immigrated from County Donegal and this was his first trip out of the United States. This trip was already embedded deep somewhere deep in his DNA.
It was our honeymoon taken about 5 months after we got married but in a way, it felt like our wedding.
I loved our wedding, it was filled with our favorite things and people. We drove North the next day to spend some time on Lake Superior. We got home, hung out with our dog, and life felt the same. We got married, but I feel like our life together began on rocky cliffs, narrow roads, and pub stools.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, loves! I hope you feel lucky.
Weekly Report -
R: Reading -
Speaking of Ireland, Irish author, Sally Rooney is one of my favorites. Most (all?) of her books are based in Ireland as she studied English Literature at Trinity College in Dublin. Intermezzo will be arriving on September 24th. Obviously, I haven’t read it yet, but I did read this article by Drew Broussard for Literary Hub; Read the opening lines of Sally Rooney’s next novel.
Additionally, I’m starting The Midnight Library by Matt Haig this week. Book club round 2 with Miss KH!
E: Eating -
This ramen. We also celebrated Baby Huss this past weekend and we ate this wonderful carrot cake.
P: Playing -
Wheel! Of! Fortune! For the past few weeks, Jordan and I have sat down and played Wheel Of Fortune while we ate dinner. It’s nice. We’re getting pretty good.
O: Obsessing -
GARDEN PLANNING! I don’t have much to share at this point. But I’m up to my eyeballs in research. I’m attempting to start as many plants as possible from seeds. These are just for my landscaping. I haven’t even begun planning my garden boxes. More to come!
R: Recommending -
OUTSIDE TIME! I’ve been tackling some easy projects I put off last fall like patching this hole in my house. I’ve started preparing some siding to hang in the next couple of days!
I’ve also been enjoying unproductive time outside as well.
T: Trying -
New routines. I have more work to do than I used to (yay!) and this has made me more organized with my time. It’s all good adjustments. As a result, I’ve been more forward-thinking, trying to set my future self up for success. I’m also trying to be better about my nighttime skincare routine.

The Trip That Changed Everything
Unknown place with one fimilar face I have never been here before Yet I feel like I've always known We did the cliches We filled each of our days Took the scenic route The skies were filled with clouds We listed to "Beeswing" This trip changed everything
